Bin Laden's Houston Connections Prove Fatal

Categories: Crime

The hat is out!!
The man who killed almost 3,000 Americans was dead, and Houston played its part.

At least we can assume so. For who can forget the Houston Chronicle's zoned edition for the Heights, which in 1999 told readers -- probably along with the fact HISD's menus for that week would include chicken fingers -- that they should be on the lookout for "an Arab man, 6 feet 4 inches to 6 feet 6 inches tall, 140 to 160 pounds, with a thin build, and [who] walks with a cane"?

Yes, Heights residents were warned to keep an eye out for Osama Bin Laden (second item).

President Obama was notably tight-lipped on the subject last night, but one can assume that the Heights played its part in the capture of the world's most wanted terrorist.

Now. some carpers will say Heights residents should have been more proactive and captured Bin Laden before 9/11, but these types of operations take time. And when you go ahead and decide to invade Iraq after 9/11, well, that diverts resources that the Heights could have used in their search.

Speaking on behalf of the United States of America, we would like to express our sincere thanks to the Heights Civic Association, various Neighborhood Watches and, of course, the Houston Chronicle.

...and the Chron wasn't running this tongue-in-cheek, either, which might have been funny.

Now that's 4X cooler.

this isn't really that interesting or engaging.

YOUR MOMMA isn't that interesting or engaging.

THAT'S NOT TRUE!!! I've met her and while she is painfully awkward, she is definitely interesting. And by interesting I mean "doable".
