An intern had a side job
Mario Joseph Ruffino, 29, seems to like working with kids. He interned at the Harris County Department of Education and then took an IT job with an elementary school in Arkansas.

All the while, federal prosecutors say, he was a major distributor of child pornography.

He was arrested last month and on Friday was ordered held without bail on charges of possessing and attempting to distribute child porn.

Prosecutors say they found more than 600 images and 121 videos on his computer. And it was some pretty sick stuff.

Included were shots of children under the age of 12 in bondage and being forced to have sex, the U.S. Attorney's office says.

The investigation began after a a federal agent saw Ruffino on the net offering the images. At the time, Ruffino was an intern with the Harris County Department of Education. During the course of the investigation, he moved to Conway, Arkansas to take an IT job with an elementary school, prosecutors say.

A federal magistrate denied bond.

Here's what Ruffino faces:

Ruffino faces a minimum sentence of five years and a maximum of 20 years imprisonment if convicted of the attempted distribution of child pornography charge and a maximum fine of $250,000. Possession of child pornography carries a maximum punishment of up to 10 years imprisonment and a maximum fine of $250,000 upon conviction. Each offense also carries a maximum of a life term of supervised release during which the court can impose a number of special conditions designed to protect children. Additionally, if convicted, registration as a sex offender is mandatory.
