A road tie is better than a loss.
For the second consecutive week, Tally Hall came up big as the Houston Dynamo 1-1 tied in New York against the Red Bulls. Hall finished the game with eight saves, most of them coming in the second half as the Red Bulls were relentless in their pursuit for a game-winner.

Instead, the Dynamo earned their second straight tie on the road, both coming against playoff contenders in tough environments. Hall's performance Saturday night at Red Bull Arena was even more spectacular considering the many weapons the Red Bulls possess -- legendary Frenchman Thierry Henry, Mexican captain Rafa Marquez, Estonia's Joel Lindpere and 18-year-old American sensation Juan Agudelo.

With all that firepower, it was Jamaican -- and Dynamo killer -- Dane Richards who was the only person to beat Hall. In the 47th minute, new Red Bull signee Dwayne de Rosario found a wide-open Richards on the left side of the box. Richards made one cut back to his right, and put the ball in the back of the net for the lead.

Three minutes later, Hall blasted a goal kick to Will Bruin, who headed a ball over the Red Bulls defense. Cam Weever found the pass, and one-timed his shot over the New York goalkeeper for the tie. After that the Orange hunkered down, as wave after wave of Red Bull assaults came crashing down. All 11 Dynamo were on the defensive, as shots were being blocked, bouncing off the goalposts, or going out wide. In the end, the Red Bulls didn't get their wings, and the Dynamo escaped from New York with a point.

The Dynamo will now focus on the US Open Cup, where they face Sporting Kansas City Wednesday night on the campus of Texas A&M University. Then the Orange begin a three-game MLS home stand, starting with a Sunday evening date against the expansion Vancouver Whitecaps at Robertson Stadium.
