Comment of the Day: Who Loves the K2 Ban?

Categories: Whatever

We have some great commenters here on Hair Balls, and it's time we paid some damn attention to them.

So we'll be highlighting a Comment of the Day each morning, from the previous day's work. Maybe two comments, even.

This will all be determined by a highly rigorous scientific formula involving wit, clarity and whatever else we feel like at the moment.

We noted how on 4/20, Texas formally announced its long-expected ban on K2 and other synthesized-marijuana products. The Mexican cartels will rejoice, one reader said.

CR wrote:

The Mexican drug cartels will be writing another a thank you letter. More "feel good" bans without considering the costs.

Clemson University chemistry professor John Huffman said:

"It's not going to be effective... Is the ban on marijuana effective?"

He also doubts that law enforcement agencies will be able to devote the necessary resources to identify such complex creations as "1-pentyl-3-(1-naphthoyl)indole," the K2's scientific name.

Too bad the Mexican drug cartels don't produce the majority of marijuana consumed in the US. Most pot smokers prefer quality product, not crap. But what else can we expect from the Houston Press, the shills of the Californians?
