Hotel Galvez, or Last Year at Marienbad?

Galveston's Hotel Galvez celebrates its 100th anniversary this year, and the people at Moody Gardens have dug up some old pictures for us.

We saw the one above and were taken back to film class at UH. Sure, you think "film class," you think it's a breeze....but then you have to sit through impenetrable stuff like Alain Resnais's Last Year at Marienbad, which we're betting no one who's not a film critic sits through unless they're getting college credit for it.

Why did we have the flashback? Look at the famous still from the movie....

Creepy, man. But believe us, you'd rather spend two hours at a bar in the Strand than looking at this thing and then trying to come up with a symbolism-filled paper on it.

Hey, this post really shows the great hotel. And the 100th anniversery of the Galvez hotel really keeps higher importance. And this thing really shows the incredility and dignity of this hotel.

I'm the only one of my friends and family who loves that film.

Hey Richard, the photo on top is courtesy of Hotel Galvez - Moody Gardens opened much more recently. Speaking of movies... Hotel Galvez is hosting a Cinema and Cafe Under the Stars with a special showing of "Some Like It Hot" on March 18. See Promise it wont creep you out.

And here I thought that music journalists were trained to appreciate Last Year at Marienbad because of the challenges throughout the movie demonstrating the difficulty of trying to untangle truth from fiction.

As in the narrative structure of lyrics?

Isn't that Eminem's thing? His sthick!

But beer is most certainly easier!
