Glenn Beck Bringing the Circus, Pain to Town March 25

Glenn Beck will be conspiratorially maudlin for you
On the night of March 25, Houston now has three choices. Do you go see Devo, the pioneering punk and New Wave group at Warehouse Live, or legendary folk offspring Arlo Guthrie at the House Of Blues, or spend an evening with powerhouse conservative talker Glenn Beck?

Decisions, decisions. Do you want to hear "Whip It," "The Motorcycle Song" or "Start Storing Food and Gold and the Obama Administration Are the New Nazi Scumlords"?

I don't know about you, but I have seen Alice's Restaurant, and if I play my cards right I could still see Devo after Beck. In fact, I would sacrifice seeing one of my favorite bands of all time to see the majesty and confusion of Glenn Beck. Just saying.

Beck will be in Houston on March 25 on his "Glenn Beck Live" tour, which features more stand-up style comedy from Beck rather than the fire and advertising brimstone you see and hear on the radio and his Fox News program. As his Web site, glennbeck.com, states:

Glenn has been called many things--Unconventional, Uncompromising, and occasionally, Unhinged. It's time we threw in Unserious, Unangry and Undeniably Funny! After a long cold winter, it's time to spring into action with big laughs, live on stage!

I can't Wait to See This Show!

As a longtime fan of Beck's -- okay, two years now -- I know his radio show by heart. From the moment I wake up in the morning, my mind is filled with contradictions and head-scratching from my first waking minutes in the shower to the point right when the AM 740 KTRH signal fades out in my car in between the buildings downtown.

I would like to think it's akin to a Catholic priest listening to Howard Stern, me tuning into Beck each day without fail. Not that I am a dyed-in-the-wool liberal by any means. I do get a hearty chuckle out of the hyperbole, and sometimes, in my strangest moments, I may nod in approval. The joke wore off long ago, and now I am still listening. I know all too well the adventures of Stu, Pat and Vermont Teddy Bears.

Tickets went on sale last Friday, with Gold VIP packages going for $500 a pop, and regular schlub general admissions tickets a cool $95.

I think it's essential to see Beck because his insanity, his analysis and 'solutions', is the driving force behind today's GOP. Don't worry about income inequality or unemployment; focus on the federal deficit. Don't invest in very real problems like global warming or the lack of our kids' education shortfalls, distract ourselves with closet communists and Islamic caliphates. Ignore what regulation did well and instead embrace the failed de-regulation pitfalls.

Yes, his popularity has plummeted lately, but he still animates a lot of middle and lower class folks with his anti-factual revisionism. When you think about it, if one is uneducated and has no other outlet to critical thinking, Glenn Beck is indeed like a professor, and that is frightening.

It's tempting just to laugh at the guy, but it's a strain that's very much alive and should be understood.

Glenn Beck has been right about everything that is going on right now from Egypt to Wisconsin. If you want to have an awesome time go see Glenn Beck live. He is the MOST sane person you will ever meet. Don't listen to George Soros millions buy the hate & the lies about Glenn Beck & Fox News.

I am glad that I lived long enough to witness what is Glenn Beck. He is perhaps the most insane and ridiculous voice out there today. Beck going on tour is so insane to me that I can't really wrap my head around it. I just can't understand how anyone can listen to his crazy often just out right wrong drivel. Admittedly I am a progressive thinker and liberal, but make no mistakes I am not extreme by any means. While Beck is in Houston the city will be the worst place to be in the world. He is a douche to the most extreme level. Just saying.

Glenn Beck has been rated #1 on Fox News for 25 months straight. He beats his 'competition' by 3 to 1 viewers. He is doubling his staff at Mercury to 100 people. He has 3 billionaires who are his friend and totally agree with what he stands for. Fox News network has been #1 for 101 months straight. He can get a half million people to show up on 8/28. He has is bigger plans for this July 4th weekend. We surround them and truth has no agenda.

So he's right about how protests in Egypt are part of the agenda of commies and Muslim extremists working together? Seriously, communists.

You can't get through internet trolls. He bashes Soros in one comment, then brings up three unnamed billionaires in another. Classic troll strategy. Our best option is to ignore them because they get off by pissing people off.

Well played.

I love "My Agenda is Truth's" point: "He has 3 billionaires who are his friend and totally agree with what he stands for."

Well, that says it all. Most of the time, I can't get one of my colleagues who is also living paycheck-to-paycheck -- make that commission sale-to-commission sale -- to agree with me on which fast food chain to visit. So Glenn Beck no doubt IS the best representative for paranoid rednecks. Peace out.
