Patrick Edwards: UH Receiver Sues Over His Spectacularly Appalling Injury

If you've seen the clip above, you definitely haven't forgotten it.

It's University of Houston received Patrick Edwards breaking his leg in the most flamboyant way, as he ran into a cart behind the end zone at Marshall University two years ago.

Now Edwards is suing the school and Conference USA for negligence in placing that cart where it could cause the most spectacular awful football injury since Lawrence Taylor met Joe Theismann.

The West Virginia Record reports that Edwards is also suing the referee for the game.

"Edwards claims the defendants failed to report to game management dangerous obstructions within the playing enclosure; failed to remove the dangerous obstructions; failed to guard against dangerous obstructions; failed to warn players; and needlessly endangered college football players by maintaining an unsafe playing field," the paper says.

Edwards is back playing for the Coogs and is expected to excel this year, but is suing for the cost of "medical care; lost wages and earning capacity; physical pain and mental anguish; physical disfigurement; and physical impairment," the paper says. Damages will be less than $1 million, the suit says.

C-USA issued a statement on the suit: "We are aware of the lawsuit and have advised our attorneys. It was an unfortunate accident and we are glad that Patrick has recovered so well from it. We will have no further comment regarding ongoing litigation."
