Wags To Whiskers This Weekend at BARC
If you've been thinking about adopting a small, hairy, quadrupedal family member, there's no excuse to miss Saturday's "Wags to Whiskers" event at the Bureau of Animal Regulation and Care, 3200 Carr. From noon to 4, you can check out a wide variety of dogs and cats, available for $27.50 -- half-off the regular adoption fee. And that includes spay/neuter, shots, and one of them space-age microchips so you'll never have to worry about losing your new pal.
All of the pups pictured below are available for adoption, so write down their name and number if one lucky dog catches your eye. Descriptions are courtesy of BARC volunteers.
Bart is a one-year-old Catahoula Leopard Dog mix with excellent manners. It's hard to tell in the picture but he has the most gorgeous coat that's dark brown with black leopard spots. He's very energetic and playful, but he plays gently with people and won't jump all over you. He especially enjoys soft toys he can nibble on. Bart is truly a great dog that is also very handsome and heartworm negative. Like any dog adopted from BARC, he comes neutered, microchipped and fully vetted. Bart is in South C Ward, I.D. A0996114.
Nacho is a happy, fun-loving girl that makes smiles wherever she goes. Everyone she meets is instantly charmed by her cute face. She also likes to keep in shape by playing ball and chasing toys. She's only about six months old and small -- maybe 20 pounds -- and an unknown but adorable breed. She is spayed, microchipped and heartworm negative. Nacho is in South D Ward, I.D. A0999111.
Her beautiful coat is easy to take care of, plus she's friendly and possibly housebroken, so she gets an A+ for grooming but an Incomplete for house training (for now). Blanca is in South A Ward, I.D. A0997067.
Priscilla is a gentle soul who likes to stretch out in the grass on a sunny afternoon, dreaming of the happy day when her white knight will come and rescue her from BARC. She really likes to have her belly scratched, too.
She is a two-year-old collie mix and is spayed, microchipped and heartworm negative. Priscilla is in South B Ward, I.D. A0998579.
Duke got adopted and found himself on his way to his new home in the back of a pickup truck. Next thing he knew he was in the street with a scraped-up leg. Duke went back to BARC where his injuries were tended to, but his previous adopter never came back for him (thankfully) so he's looking for another one. Duke is an energetic, athletic guy who loves to play with toys. He looks like a chocolate brown Rottie mix -- about 50 pounds and one year old. He's neutered and his leg is healing nicely, but he is low heartworm positive so he will need treatment which BARC can provide. Duke is in South A Ward, I.D. A0995484.
Stubbs is also low heartworm positive which can easily be corrected with treatment BARC can provide. Show your love for the bully breeds and adopt Stubbs! He's in South A Ward, I.D. A0996098.
She's friendly and enjoys meeting new people. She's about 50 pounds and with her high energy she will need a home with a big yard and an active family. Sugar is in South D Ward, I.D. A0995268.
Once outside, Brighton's blue eyes light up. She is happiest being petted and giving
kisses. This two-year-old pit bull mix hopes she can find a peaceful home where she will be loved for the rest of her life.
She's heartworm positive so she'll need a special foster or adopter who can help her through the treatment (which BARC provides). Brighton is in South D Ward, I.D. A0995839.
