Zack Morris is a Lawyer, Yeah Right

Categories: Pop Rocks, TGITiVo
Is anyone else having a good time watching the TNT television promos where Zack Morris from “Saved by the Bell” pretends to be a lawyer? What happened, did he get tired of hanging out at the Max and frenching Kelly Kapowski underneath Mr. Belding’s desk? Are we actually supposed to believe that the boy who once had an illicit summer affair with Leah Remini now knows what a process server is?

Check it. Mark Paul Gosselaar is part of the new TNT series “Raising the Bar” created by Steven “They Still Remember Cop Rock” Bocho. And he’s not just playing a lawyer. He’s playing, like, a rebel lawyer with long hair and a problem smarting off to Malcolm in the Middle’s mom, who is playing a judge. Zack Morris, I’m surprised at you. Didn’t Mr. Belding teach you any manners when he was horribly intertwined in your social life unlike any principal in the history of principals? (Side note: Why didn’t Mr. Belding have a secretary? Why could any kid literally walk into his office from a door in the hallway? I know I had to suspend a lot of my belief system to buy into “Saved by the Bell.” But my God, even the principal in Grease had a secretary. A little acknowledgment of the audience, please?)

Okay, back to Zack as Perry Mason. Now I’m sure many of you think, you’re being unfair, Miss Rocks. If we remember correctly, Mark Paul did an outstanding job as a tough cop on “NYPD Blue” during that season’s latter years, so why the harsh treatment now?

I don’t know. I don’t know why this is so unbelievable to me. I actually really liked Mark Paul as a cop on “NYPD Blue.” Maybe it’s just easier for me to accept Zack Morris as the order side of law and order. Or maybe I just don’t like his new, hippie hair do.

Either way, catch ya later at the Max, y’all. -- Jennifer Mathieu
