This Just In: Deadlock Over TSU President Priscilla Slade’s Spending

After eight weeks of testimony, evidence and arguments, it appears that the jurors hearing the case of former Texas Southern University President Priscilla Slade have deadlocked, 8-4, this morning. No word on whether the vote is for exoneration or conviction.

State District Judge Brock Thomas has asked the jurors to try again. If a mistrial is declared that’ll just add to the state’s costs of prosecuting the woman accused of misapplying (a.k.a. spending it on herself and her friends) more than $500,000 of TSU’s money while heading up the cash-poor university. – Margaret Downing
