When Tweeting Goes Bad: Mocking #Jadapose Hashtag Spreads on Twitter

A 16-year-old girl named Jada gave KHOU an interview Tuesday night about an alleged rape that went viral on social media.

According to the teen she got raped at a party and then people began talking about it and sharing pictures on social media. Police are still investigating the incident, according to KHOU.

Now, a hashtag and meme mocking her is being used. It's called #jadapose, and some people are posting photos of them lying on the ground like Jada was after she says she was raped.

"There's no point in hiding," she said in the interview. "Everybody has already seen my face and my body, but that's not what I am and who I am."

According to hashtracking.com, #jadapose has been tweeted 89 times since just 2:15 p.m., including retweets. There have been tweets using the hashtag before then, too. This is one of the most popular #jadapose tweets:

And this vine, which includes the picture found in the above tweet, got retweeted even more than the above tweet.

We spoke with the creator of the vine, @FilthyDeee, via Twitter direct messages. He wouldn't speak to us in person, he said, because he was at work. He also wouldn't give us his real name.

He said he decided to post the vine early Tuesday morning, when he "was bored at 1a.m. and decided to wake up my (Twitter timeline)." He said he didn't know Jada personally.

Most of the tweets we found, though, tended to be speaking out against #jadapose, calling it "childish," "pathetic" and further proof of the necessity of the #YesAllWomen hashtag, which spoke out against misogyny and violence against women and went viral in May 2014 after the Isla Vista, California, shootings.

But that still doesn't give them the right to do whatever they want to women Mayling! Only because they don't respect the women in their life for whatever the reason may be. When I read this my comment was probably an angry rant. But what you said does make sense! God bless you!!

I think that's where you're wrong Mel & Leonard, if these guys had respect for the women (i.e. grandma, mom, aunts) in their lives they wouldn't have posted this crap and found it funny! They always say if a man respects the women in his life he will respect the women of the world.

These inconsiderate jerks making fun of a raped woman wouldn't be laughing if it were their mom, sister, or daughter. It's funny how men are so derogatory toward and mistreat women and then when they have daughters, they have to protect them against men like themselves. It's disgusting that we live in a society where men think it's funny to harm females and ruin their lives. What pigs. God will handle these jerks.

Hypocrites, half of the commentators on here troll athletes and entertainers as if they aren't real people. Where you think the kids learn it from.

Why your government doesn't block things like this on internet, instead of spying on the rest of the world, even allies? Serious nations will block social media for some time, if they are abused, I suggest NSA or whoever control the internet in the USA, instead use their power to prevent abuse against people, instead of practising abuse from the government!

What's troubling is the dismissive attitude towards this girl's pain and suffering, and the degree to which her identity has been paralleled to that of her sexual being. Which is to suggest a woman is so often viewed not for what she feels or thinks but how she looks and relates sexually to the point that she is condemned when she does not behave or is seen to behave in preferred virtuous manners, irrespective if she came to sexually abused- because the implicit understanding is that she 'probably asked for it anyway.....'

The time for blocking will be used to clean out abusive comments/pictures, then the social media of course will be opened again. Free speech is important, but not a holy thing, allowing for child porn, rape pictures and other type of violence against single individuals.

Thus - USA has gone too far with their "free speech" and "right to carry firearms everywhere" ammendments, you will have many of your own people killed by this, for a long period of history. Those pricks who posted and reposted pictures of this girl, better pray that her father is not coming after them with a gun or something!

I am sure the founding fathers could not foresee the consequences of internet, especially social media, in some degree video games and very easily available firearms plus many people with mental illnesses in our time, than 200+ years ago, you would simply not survive then. Plus not the least, drugs which will make people do a lot of stupid, dangerous and heinous things, we are quite surprised over here in the Europe that you are even starting to legalise marihuana for "medical" use!
