Sometimes, professional football players are so athletic to the point they seem superhuman. Sadly, that isn't true.

The Texans placed offensive tackle David Quessenberry on the NFL's Non-Football Illness List Tuesday after Quessenberry was diagnosed with lymphoma.

Lymphoma is a blood cancer. Placement on the list keeps Quessenberry under contract with the Texans while freeing up a roster spot for the organization.

"Our medical community here in Houston is the best in the world," Texans Executive Vice President and General Manager Rick Smith said in a press release. "We are extremely confident in the care and treatment David will receive. He is a fighter and a courageous young man and we look forward to his full and complete recovery. We will continue to support him and his family and look forward to his return to the team."

Quessenberry joined the Texans last year as a sixth round pick in the 2013 NFL Draft out of San Diego State.
