Ring it in with cool weather.
As we approach the end of 2013, Houston's weather has been more notable for what didn't happen than what did. Hurricane season was a dud. The drought came to an end, even if we do still linger on its edges. There hasn't been any tough winter weather or hard freezes -- at least not in Houston, and at least not yet. It wasn't even overly hot this past summer. If Houston's 2013 weather was anything, it was nondescript, and given the ups and downs of the past few years, it has been welcome.

This weekend will see a bit of a warm up throughout the region under mostly cloudy skies and ahead of a cold front that should move through on Sunday. At this point, it doesn't appear like there will be much of a chance for rain as high temperatures hover in the mid and upper 60s into Sunday morning.

By Sunday night, temperatures will dip back into the mid 30s, but a freeze in town isn't expected.

Looking Ahead to New Year's

The weather for New Year's Eve looks to be cool and sunny with highs in the mid to upper 50s and lows in the lower 40s. A chance of rain creeps into the forecast by the afternoon of the first day of 2014, but since most of us will be sitting inside enjoying some college football, that should be just fine.
