Weather Week: Warming Up Before Another Big Chill
Remember a couple of weeks back when it got into the 70s and everyone was all, "Boo! Green Christmas!"? Then, only days later, it got really cold and we were all, "Boo! Cold Christmas!"? Nothing like Houston in the winter to piss people off about the weather...or summer or spring. In fall, everyone is pretty much happy.
Like this only not.
This week is going to offer yet another glimpse of the roller-coaster weather we've had over the past month, but it will be more like a kiddie coaster compared to two weeks ago. A gradual warming trend with increasing humidity will be the pattern through the end of the week ahead of an approaching cold front. Temperatures will slowly rise into the 70s, with Friday pushing to near 80 degrees.
We'll also see an increasing chance of rain through Saturday with a 70 percent chance of the wet stuff both Friday and Saturday. After Saturday temps will drop back into the 50s for highs and the 40s for lows.
With Christmas just eight days off, we're starting to get a clearer picture of what weather will be like for the jolly old fat man. He probably won't need Rudolph here in Houston and the weather looks to be gorgeous for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. There is now no longer a chance of a hard freeze, but you'll want a sweater with temperatures both days in the upper 50s and lows in the lower 40s.
