Christmas Weather: Cold and Sunny for Christmas Week

Not this year.
As the jolly fat man makes his way towards the southern part of the U.S., he must breathe a sigh of relief. After all, he's spent a bunch of his night in Europe, Russia and the northeastern U.S. -- we'll forget for the moment about his trip to Africa. By the time he gets to Houston, it must be downright balmy to him.

This year, he may need to keep that coat on because low temperatures through Christmas will be near freezing in the city. Highs all the way through the end of the week will be in the upper 50s to mid 60s and there should be abundant sunshine making for good remote control car racing or bike riding weather for kids after Santa delivers his goodies.

The long-range forecast for next week is calling for much of the same as another shot of cold air enters the region early next week. New Year's Eve and New Year's Day should be chilly, so bundle up because when you wake up passed out on your front porch, those clothes will have kept you from hypothermia. You're welcome...and Merry Christmas!
