Somebody Wants Ted Cruz Dead (and Not a Member of His Own Party)

Sen. Ted Cruz has made a name for himself with all the government shutdown hijinks he's pulled in the past few weeks, but he's also ensured that there are a lot of people right now who don't much like guy, including at least one person who's been using Twitter to urge someone to get rid of Cruz.

While his approval numbers are reportedly still high in Texas, people in his own party, in and out of Texas, aren't Cruz's biggest fans in the wake of his opposition of the Affordable Care Act that got tied up with the government shutdown. Democrats are comparably lacking in thrall for Cruz, as many blame him for prolonging the shutdown.

However, it seemed unlikely his actions of the last few months would have any real negative consequences, until someone tweeted Cruz's Houston address on Friday, saying that some should take the senator out. And we're thinking they weren't talking a cup of coffee.

The tweet reportedly came from @Armyvet54, who identified himself as Troy Gilmore, Jr., who served in the U.S. Army and Navy, according to the San Antonio Express-News.

Gilmore allegedly posted the initial threat and a number of others on Friday: "Take down Cruz at his home." He then listed Cruz's Houston address. The account has been deleted since then and law enforcement is investigating the threat.

This definitely must be some uncomfortable news for Cruz, but it can't be entirely unexpected. With his opposition to the Affordable Care Act (aka Obamacare) Cruz has leaped into the national spotlight in a way that would bring the crazy out of the woodwork.
