As the hot months wind down, the boys of summer begin to sizzle up.
The push for the MLS Cup is officially upon us; and as is tradition around the city of Houston, the Dynamo begin their late season unbeaten streak to march into the playoffs. The Dynamo are currently sitting on a nice, two game winning streak, courtesy of a 5-1 beating of Chivas USA Saturday night at BBVA Compass Stadium.

The Goats were on a bit of streak themselves coming into the match. They were coming off of a month in which they were 2-1-2, including a huge 3-2 win over the New York Red Bulls, and a 2-2 draw with the Vancouver Whitecaps - both playoff hopefuls in their respective conferences.

Here are five things we learned from Saturday's offensive blitzkrieg the Dynamo put on.

5. Boniek has first two goal game

The Dynamo's Honduran international has quietly gone about his career in MLS. Saturday night, he ended the night with the final two goals.

Then we saw something bizarre out of Boniek not usually seen - emotion. After each goal, he nestled the ball inside his shirt as if he were pregnant. It's not the strangest goal celebration, but to each his own nonetheless. We came to find out after the match that Mrs. Garcia is expecting twins. So the timing couldn't be any more perfect for Garcia to net his first brace as a Houston Dynamo.

4. Barnes also scores twice

Boniek's goals were more of an icing on the cake. Giles Barnes's two strikes were the inside, "cake" part of the cake - if that makes sense. He scored the first two - the second being the eventual game winner.

Barnes put the Dynamo up in the first half with a header off a Brad Davis corner kick. But five minutes after the half, the Goat's Eric Avila converted a Dynamo mistake into an equalizer. Four minutes later, Barnes took a Ricardo Clark pass up the middle and tucked in the game winning goal for the Dynamo.

Barnes didn't celebrate after his goals the way Boniek did. If Hair Balls were a gambling blog, we bet it was because he isn't expecting twins.

3. Slow night for Hall

There were a few Dynamo players who didn't see much action on the night. A couple of them didn't make if off the bench. Tally Hall, the resident goal keeper for the Dynamo, was the other. Hall was credited with a save and two blocked shots on the night, but that might be a bit of an over exaggeration.

The only real action Hall saw was the Chivas goal in the 50th minute, but that goal was mainly blamed on the defense, so he kind of gets a free pass.

2. Push for the MLS Cup Playoffs

There's a reason the leaves start to turn orange this time of year. Science tells us it's because of the fall season. But come on, it's Dynamo time.

With Saturday night's win, the Dynamo have cemented themselves in the fourth seed of the Eastern Conference playoffs - for the moment. But that all could change. They travel to New England next week, who currently sits behind them in the playoff standings. Then their next three matches are all home games against the three teams directly above them in the standings - the Montreal Impact, Sporting Kansas City, and the Red Bulls.

1. CCL match looming on Wednesday

There's also that pesky CONCACAF Champions League for the Dynamo to contend with. Their next opponent is W Connection, a team that hails from Trinidad and Tobago. The match will be at BBVA, so there won't be the added pressure of travel. But rest assured the Dynamo will go for the win; as is the case in these regional tournaments, home wins are almost a must if you wish to advance into the knockout round.
