According to KHOU, the shooting victim fired at least shots with an AR-15 assault rifle in the air before being fired upon by an air marshal. The victime then, allegedly, pulled out a pistol and shot himself. There have been no reports of injuries.

George Bush IAH Terminal B is shut down and a ground stop is in effect for arriving planes. More updates and original post after the jump.

Update at 2:18 p.m.

A clearer picture is emerging of just what happened at George Bush IAH Thursday afternoon. Reports continue to indicate one man is dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound at the security checkpoint at Terminal B. Police have confirmed one is dead of a gunshot wound, but would not confirm whether the victim shot himself or was shot by another party, or police. The gun used by the victim, allegedly, is an AR-15 assault rifle. He had yet to pass through security. On apparent eyewitness was Greg Newburn, who reported from Twitter he heard a number of shots.

He also posted a video that doesn't show much, but it can be viewed on the Business Insider website.

Update at 1:57 p.m.

HPD tells Hair Balls that there is no confirmation of shots fired, but that contradicts reports from other news sources including KHOU, which is reporting it was a single, self-inflicted shot at a security checkpoint.
