UPDATED: Weather Week: Lurching Into Spring
Update: Well, sir, turns out those clouds I predicted burned off and we did indeed get up into the upper 80s today (87 so far). Hooray?

Original post: We haven't had any seriously warm weather since last fall. It looked like that could change today with temperatures originally predicted to be in the upper 80s, but cloud cover has managed to keep that down to around 80 degrees. But just when you think we have finally reached the point of perpetual evening porch weather, another cool front will come through later in the week to stave off summer temperatures a little longer.
But if you are annoyed by this roller-coaster weather, a little perspective. The highest predicted temperature in Minneapolis this week is 38. They are actually seeing a warming trend with highs in the 20s and lows in the single digits early on in the week, but rising to the 40s with lows ONLY in the 30s by early next week.
So, when you are pissed about having to put on socks and forgo the flipflops for another week, consider our poor northern neighbors.
Unfortunately, the couple of cool fronts that should push through this week will not bring much rain with them. There is a moderate chance mid-week and virtually no chance as the stronger of the two fronts moves through Friday or Saturday.
The first front will keep the temperatures mild and in the 70s, while the second will bring highs back into the 60s this weekend with overnight lows in the upper 40s.
At the moment, the drought is in relative check thanks to the cooler temperatures, but as it warms up -- and it is going to sooner than we all think -- it will be something we seriously need to monitor.
