HISD Bus Crash Sends Student to Hospital
A Houston school district bus was involved in what officials are calling a "major accident" this morning, sending one student to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
A report that a driver died
Three students were on the bus, headed to Scarborough High, when the accident occurred at Beechnut and Braeburn Valley about 6:30 a.m. today.
KHOU is reporting that the driver of the sedan that hit the bus has died, but that can't be confirmed at press time.
The accident happened as the bus was making a turn at the intersection. The driver of the bus was not injured.
HISD issued a statement saying one of the other students complained of leg pain after he reached school and is being evaluated.
"As is standard procedure following major accidents, the bus driver will be temporarily removed from his driving duties," the district's statement said. "The Houston Police Department is handling the investigation of this accident."
