I'm pretty sure everyone outside of Texas hates the phrase "everything's big in Texas" about as much as every person in Houston hates the phrase "Houston, we have a problem." But, I'm about to drop it on you one more time because, according to Forbes, the top three fastest-growing cities in America are in Texas and four of the top 10.

Austin ranks number one on the list with a population growth rate in 2012 of 2.8 percent and projected growth of 2.7 percent in 2013. Houston is number two at a steady 2 percent and Dallas is third at 2.1 percent. And San Antonio made the top 10 right at 2 percent.

You might wonder why those numbers seem out of order, but Forbes used more than just population growth for its metric.

It also included job growth, unemployment, gross metro product growth. One factor that caused Texas cities to rank so highly is the six percent unemployment figure, which is well below that of the rest of the country, and robust job growth (Houston is at 3.4 percent). Houston outpaces all the other Texas cities in median salary at just over $70,000 per year, nearly $7,000 more per year than Austin and about $5,000 more per year than Dallas.

Now, I sit and wait for Most Awesome City, which clearly is Houston. Bring it, Forbes!
