Marilyn Rodriguez, 18, Run Over By Car After Arguing With Friends: Bayou Body Count No. 199

Houston police are investigating the early morning death of Marilyn Rodriguez, 18, who died after trying to get into a friend's car during a fight with friends.
Mowed down by a friend's car
At the same time as Rodriguez was attempting to get into the car, her brother was banging on the back of the car with sticks, investigators say. Not sure of what was happening, one friend accelerated the car to get away and Rodriguez fell and was run over by the car.
Police say the incident occurred at 7600 Bellerive about 5 a.m. Friday, November 9 and will be referred to a Harris County Grand Jury.
Rodriguez, of Houston, died at the scene.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant R. Chandler and Senior Police Officer K. Carr reported:
Ms. Rodriguez and two of her friends began arguing next to one of the friends' cars at the above address. During the argument, Rodriguez attempted to get in the car at the same time her brother began to strike the back windshield of the car with a stick. The driver and the other friend, unsure of where the attack was coming from, became afraid for their safety. The driver then pushed the gas pedal in an attempt to get away from the strikes on the car. Rodriguez fell from the car when it accelerated and was then fatally struck by the vehicle.
