It's leaked!
Word was, VIP ticketholders were going to get the first look at the Astros' new uniforms, logos and mascot attire. Friday was supposed to be the day.

But Major League Baseball beat the home team to it, pretty much well undermining at least the planned unveiling at Minute Maid Park on November 2.

Update: And actually, as our own John Royal points out, "In fairness to MLB, the logo and colors were leaked last week when the manager at one of the Academy stores put on display for sale a bunch of Astros shirts with the new logo."

And there was an earlier reveal, committed by the Astros themselves:

A Friend of Hair Balls alerted us to the MLB leak this morning. So have a look. And hey, on Friday there's still the mascot.

The Astros are who we thought they were. Does the new logo come with the ability to better manage a club and each and every player to give 100%?

It should have been black instead of blue. I guess the owners are Dallas Fans lol

Oh no sir, you can mess with my players, you can add a train full of citrus and you can race packets of hot sauce, but you do not change the name of the Astros, no matter if they used to be the Colt .45s.

They should've just gone way back and called them the Colt .45s. I know MLB wouldn't have let them, but that would have been a lot cooler.

It does remind me of 80's version. However, I did like that one, so it's fine with me. P.S. cursing in an open social media forum shows lack of class. On your personal wall is your biz, but something like the Houston Press is intended for a wider audience. just say'n.

I also have a snarky comment to add to this list but will later say that the Astros have been my team forever and this look is sexy and classic when they start winning again.

New ?? Looks just like the old 80's logo ... I guess the plan is to re-open the Dome and play there as well .. might as well sell minute maid park with all the other assets you have traded away .. How does this sound ; " Worst team in the league 3 years in a row !! " Class Act !!

Somewhere, a graphic designer is laughing that he/she got paid a ton of money to redo someone else's work with a very minimal effort.

"It's not new if you're going back to the old logo" Different colors. We can't see the entire uniform yet.

Worst-kept secret ever. Is there anything left to be revealed when the Astros have their 'official' revelation this week?

It's not new if you're going back to the old logo.

It's a good look. And no I'm not concerned that this is interfering with the search for better players. Those duties should be handled by a whole different set of people anyway.

I like it! Reminds me of the old school uniforms.

Quite copying the Texas Rangers. The cirlcle logo and blue shade is exactly the Rangers same. What happened to the navy blue and orange?...stupids!

They need to get better players and stop worrying about uniforms.
