Juan Garcia faces DWI charges in connection with death.
A 60-year-old woman was killed by a drunk driver who also sent a four-year-old girl to the hospital Saturday night, police say.

Mary Helen Aranda, 60, was driving a Toyota Corolla westbound in the block of 6700 Lyons about 8:10 p.m. Saturday when she was struck by the PT Cruiser being driven eastbound in that block by Juan Pedro Garcia, 26, police say. Garcia "veered into the westbound lanes," HPD says.

Aranda was taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital, where she later died.

"A four-year-old passenger, Francisco Aranda, was not injured but was also transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital as a precaution," HPD says. "A female passenger, 40, and two other juvenile passengers in the PT Cruiser were also transported to the hospital with serious injuries and broken bones."

An investigation determined Garcia was drunk and he has been charged with DWI with a child under 15, HPD says.
