Comment of the Day: A Surrogate Mom's Not "A Genetic Parent"?
We have some great commenters here on Hair Balls, and it's time we paid some damn attention to them.
So we'll be highlighting a Comment of the Day each morning or afternoon from the previous day's work. Maybe two comments, even.
This will all be determined by a highly rigorous scientific formula involving wit, clarity and whatever else we feel like at the moment.
We wrote about a strange custody case where a surrogate mom is facing claims she's not "a genetic parent" to the child she delivered.

Gone are the days when all babies were conceived with mom, dad and a bed! Science has progressed to the point where "the old fashioned way" is just that- old fashioned. We don't squat in a field and give birth anymore and we don't rely on leeches to suck the poison out of our bodies. So why hasn't our family court caught up to this progress? By this logic, if my husband was sterile and we had to rely on donor sperm to conceive a child, he would have no legal right to that child. Are you kidding me?
