Coming for you, drunk driver
You knew it was coming: Tomorrow morning TxDOT, DPS and MADD will hold a press conference announcing a big "No Refusal" crackdown surrounding the 4th of July.

This year's campaign features Sean Carter, who suffered massive brain damage as a passenger in a car driven by someone over the legal limit.

"July Fourth is the deadliest holiday of the year for alcohol-related crashes in the United States," said Carol Rawson, TxDOT's Traffic Operations Division director. "Texans need to hear Sean's powerful story and know that law enforcement will be out in force. It's important to make the right choices. Stay safe and enjoy the holiday. If a celebration involves alcohol, don't drive."

Various agencies have put together a webpage called Faces of Drunk Driving, which highlights victims from across the state.

"'No Refusal' means just that," TxDOT says in announcing the campaign. "Motorists suspected of driving while intoxicated must provide a breath or blood sample to law enforcement. Should they refuse to comply, law enforcement officials can take the suspect to jail, where a judge then signs an expedited search warrant that calls for a mandatory blood sample to be taken by a qualified health-care professional. Those found to be legally intoxicated (i.e., with a blood or breath alcohol content of .08 or higher) are arrested and prosecuted."

So don't get behind the wheel if you've had some adult beverages to celebrate the holiday. You've got a higher chance of being caught.

And I hope that you never have to endure the life that many do at the hands of a drunk driver! We don't care if you drink! Just stay off the streets or make arrangements to get home with a sober driver. Drunk driving causes CRASHES not Accidents!
