A baby born after her mother died in a Texas Medical Center traffic accident is in critical condition, police say.

The Houston mom, 30, whose name was not released, was crossing the intersection of Main and Cambridge about 9:20 a.m. Tuesday when she was hit by a grey Acura MDX going north on Main.
The vehicle had a green light, and the driver was questioned and released at the scene, although police say an investigation continues.
The mother was taken to nearby Memorial Hermann where the child was delivered via emergency surgery.
