Tiffany Amos had a birthday surprise, cops say

Tiffany Michelle Amos was a substitute teacher in the Spring school district with an apparent hankering for one of her students.

She knew not to have sex with him until he turned 17 -- and indeed, on his 17th birthday she invited him over and had sex with him, court documents say.

Unfortunately for her, the build-up to that moment included her sending nude photographs of herself before the big day, court documents say.

Amos told an investigator "she intentionally and knowingly took nude photographs of herself at her home with her cell phone and intentionally sent the nude photographs to the [boy] before his 17th birthday," court documents say. "[She] was aware of the [boy's] birthday because she had entered the date into her cell phone."

Amos, 25, faces a felony charge of online solicitation of a minor.

Technically no, I don't think that would be viewed as a crime, since they would both be underage, and could actually marry if they chose. Just kids misbehaving.

It's a very different situation though when it is an adult abusing his/her position of trust as a teacher and having sexual relations with an underage student.

Off-topic but a very real fact. I've noticed that a lot of young professional women just cannot find partners in this city. Could these high instances of adult women and school age little boys, be one symptom and result of that curious situation?

It's a complicated issue, but blue-collar guys (IMHO) seem to be easily intimidated by better educated women, so they go for dumber girls, at least dumber than themselves.

Result is that attractive professional educated women 25-50 are very often single (long-term). The women are as much to blame for being alone, since they only want other professional men, but the men they want invariably want younger attractive girls dumber than themselves... It's a vicious circle.

In my informal studies on this phenomenon, abuse is one explanation for why these women have sex with these boys. Others do it because they feel like they missed out in high school. Maybe they were fat or awkward or overly religious or whatever. They just feel like they need to relive those years.

I agree, and claims of past abuse are a bit of a cop-out. There's no excuse. I think you are spot on with your idea that they weren't exactly in the 'A' list crowd first time around, except this time they are in the driving seat and have some feeling of 'power' over the kids they abuse.
