Sarah Tressler: Courtroom bound?
Noted feminist lawyer/TV personality Gloria Allred will hold a press conference later today to announce she is representing "Angry Stripper" Sarah Tressler in a lawsuit against the Houston Chronicle, the Web site Radar reports.

Tressler was a society writer for the paper and a stripper, one who wrote about her pole experiences and posted pictures of herself on a blog called Diary of an Angry Stripper, not to mention a Twitter and Facebook page.

The Chron fired her, and she has said she did not tell editors of her other, semi-public, life.

"Allred will assert that her client's firing may constitute sex discrimination, which would be a violation of Tressler's rights under the law," Radar says.

Update: An EEOC complaint has been filed. it's only fitting that we should link the Chronicle's story on it, in which it refuses to comment.

Tressler says in the complaint she was fired "because my prior activity as an adult dancer was not disclosed when I applied for the job. I believe that the stated reason for my termination was pretextual in that I answered the questions that were put to me truthfully in connection with my application for employment. The true reason for my termination was discrimination on account of my gender.''

Last time I checked, working in the adult industry isn't illegal. It may not be everyone's cup of tea, but it's not against the law. One shouldn't have to hide or be ashamed of anything for employment they've had in the past just because it's not everyone else's idea of a great job. Enough with the self-righteous stigmatizing.

I'm so DISAPPOINTED  that the Houston Press would out a fellow journalist.

The Chronicle will be ordered to pay a large settlement, but they will do so with $1 bills. I'm surprised she didn't get fired from her stripper job for being a reporter. I would also like to mention that journalism in America died years ago and now is just a distributor of corporate propaganda.

You're no fool.  Good Journalism is hard to find these days, and good newspapers are even harder to find, partly due to the box of 'propaganda, lies and anonymous contemptible attacks on innocent people' that you and the rest of us are currently looking at, partly due to the Murdoch empire, and partly due to people having become dumber and less educated.  'News' is dumbed down, softened, twisted, manipulated, corrupted, not reported...

On her blog, she explains how easy it is to take money from men who are "literally retarded"" She calls them "sweetards."

"The true reason for my termination was discrimination on account of my gender..."

Really? So it's got nothing to do with bringing the paper into disrepute? I have a strong feeling that had she been a 'male' society columnist who secretly worked at "LaBare", they'd still have fired her for non-disclosure of that fact.

Seriously, has this woman no shame or sense of propriety?  I'm sure Houston's 'society' set, don't usually get naked or dance around poles, least not all the time anyway, or outside the privacy of their own homes....

The only 'society' she was likely to meet in her undisclosed line of work, was the trash of society...

The Chron should just offer Allred double her fee to burn her bra at Rick's Cabaret and settle this out of court.

I guess Allred has to do something to keep her name out there lest we realize how insignificant she really is and forget about her.

It's not me!
It's not me!

Meanwhile, Mr. Connelly forgets to mention that his blog post was the match that started this fire. I wonder if the Press will be named as a plaintiff in any upcoming lawsuits...

Really? Seems there isn't much to expose when it's all been seen before....

She should be thanking Connelly profusely for launching her name into the ether. She went from an obscure, angry stripper & chirpy society columnist, to a minor celeb with a GMA appearance, book and movie deal, and now more coverage thru Gloria.
