Larry Lowery: East Texas Man Accused of Throwing Dogs into a Fire

Does this look like the face of a man who would burn dogs alive?

Here's a story that will ruin your day: An East Texas man has been arrested for allegedly throwing two live dogs into a fire April 1. One died, one managed to leap out and run away while still on fire and hasn't been found.

Wood County Sheriff's deputies arrested Larry Lowery, a.k.a. Larry Lowrey, on suspicion of cruelty to a non-livestock animal. Witnesses told local media that Lowery intentionally threw both dogs into a fire pit, but Wood County Sheriff Bill Wansley told KLTV that Lowery admitted to grabbing a stray dog that had bit him two weeks earlier, swing it toward the fire, and "accidentally tossed the dog into the fire."

If it was an accident, it apparently whetted his appetite, for witnesses say he found another stray to toss into the fire, and that he was bragging about both. By the way, one of the witnesses was apparently a five-year-old girl. She gets a pass, obviously, but we're not so sure about these other witnesses. It stands to reason that the only acceptable reaction upon witnessing a man throw a dog into a fire is to immediately jump on that man and beat the living shit out of him. Sitting idly by while the maniac grabs another dog and does the same thing means you're existing on a subhuman level. Just saying.

A representative of the Wood County Sheriff's Department told us Lowery was booked under both spellings, with a birth date of October 21, 1983. Records show he pleaded guilty to burglary of a habitation in 2002, for which he was given probation, and which was subsequently revoked. He was sentenced to ten years in prison; however, he was charged with misdemeanor theft in 2003, so he apparently didn't serve all ten. In December 2011, he was charged with driving without a valid license, sentenced to 180 days in jail and given two months' probation.

A Wood County District Attorney's Office investigator could not comment, saying his office hadn't received the case yet.

We left a message at the Lowery household and have tried to reach Lowery, who bonded out of the Wood County Jail April 3, on his cell, to no avail.

The Texas Humane Legislation Network is circulating a petition, asking District Attorney Jim Wheeler to prosecute Lowery to the fullest extent of the law, meaning he potentially faces two years in the pen. Which, prison rape notwithstanding, is still probably better than being burned alive.

We'll be following this one to see if Lowery opens his trap any further.

If I could find this guy I'd beat him to death then chop him into pieces with a shovel & burn them. I would sleep like a baby. If you got a problem with that I have bad news...some people reading this would not bother beating him to death first...

Someone should throw his brain dead ass into a fire pit, what a f-ing amoeba. Put him in a tiny cell where he can't move, and let him rot.

I find it quaint to get so upset about the wmethod of death. I bet 99% of the commentors eat meat and do not care how equally horrible livestock is killed or even think of why there is a seperate law for livestock and pet cruelty.
