This Is the Guy Who Checked His Car for Damage, Not His Victim, in Fatal Hit & Run
Crime Stoppers has released a composite photo for a leading candidate of Most Skewed Priorities of the Year: The guy who smashed into a pedestrian and knew it, who then drove a couple of blocks before stopping to check his car for damage and then driving blithely on.
Illustration by HPD At least the car was okay.
The incident happened March 14, about 2:15 a.m. in the 3400 block of West Fuqua. Richard Coburn Jr. was pronounced dead at the scene.
The car is believed to be a white Honda sedan. "The driver of the vehicle continued to the next traffic light, where he stopped and checked the vehicle for damage," Crime Stoppers says. "The driver returned to the vehicle and drove away, failing to stop and render aid to Coburn."
The driver is described as a black male about six feet tall. Anyone with information about the identity of the suspect is asked to contact Crime Stoppers of Houston at 713-222-TIPS (8477).
