Jason Miller didn't get far.
How not to leave an accident scene: Troubled Galveston County District Clerk Jason Murray was ticketed by League City police after he rear-ended a truck March 28. He then got in his car and, as newly suspicious officers noticed he was driving erratically, he rammed into a second vehicle.

He has been charged with driving under the influence of prescription drugs, the Galveston County Daily News reports.

Police say that the officers who ticketed him after the initial crash did not suspect anything and let him go.

"Maybe whatever he was on had just started kicking in, we're not sure," League City police spokesman Sgt. John Jordan said. "But the difference between the way he was during the first stop and when he drove off was night and day."

The cops noticed that Murray was driving erratically and decided to stop him again. But before they could, Murray stopped himself by slamming into another vehicle.

This all happened around 5 p.m.

Murray pleaded guilty in December to misdemeanor family assault after he struck his wife after a party. He received two years' probation in a deferred adjudication deal and paid a $372 fine.

Update: The News follows up with a report that Murray and his wife had a conflict over their child that resulted in extra security at his school before the DUI incident.
