We have some great commenters here on Hair Balls, and it's time we paid some damn attention to them.

So we'll be highlighting a Comment of the Day each morning, from the previous day's work. Maybe two comments, even.

This will all be determined by a highly rigorous scientific formula involving wit, clarity and whatever else we feel like at the moment.

We noted that the large block containing the Half Price Books at Montrose and Westheimer was up for sale and redevelopment.

It engendered some reader outcry over possibly losing the bookstore and Spec's, but one reader was more optimistic.

Nathan Smith wrote:

That strip center most definitely is a dump. The former Blockbuster has been vacant for probably, what, five years now? Given the cool stuff that has sprung up on that corner in the last few years, I'm intrigued to see what could potentially replace this stuff (a couple chain stores and Chinese delivery are no great loss, in my opinion). The smart money says a big-box apartment building (did I just coin that?), but you never know. Someone could get adventurous and put in a cool new restaurant concept of some sort of mixed-use enclave a la West Ave. Still poking around Montrose, Trader Joe's?
