SUPER BOWL STORY LINE ALERT! Jason Pierre-Paul Talked Mad Trash About Tom Brady!

The ultimate dis, Super Bowl LXVI-style.

Hell, when news came down today that Rob Gronkowski would be a gametime decision because of his high ankle sprain, SportsCenter interrupted their regular news flow as if there was an end to a hostage crisis.

In short, this Super Bowl hype buildup week has been BOOORING.

It certainly doesn't help that we have two teams and, more importantly, two head coaches who have been here before, so they know exactly what message to send to their team and likely know how hard to reinforce the need for players to be as plain vanilla as possible all week in their quotes to the media.

And that's how it's gone all week. We in radio have been left fishing for something to juice things up. The best that anybody could do was an innocuous Monday quote from Giants safety Antrel Rolle about the Giants "expecting to win." (We interviewed Rolle today on 1560 The Game and brought up how stupid that was that it became newsworthy. He agreed.)

That was as much controversy as could be drummed up. Until today. I guess.

Brace yourselves.

Giants defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul had these words about Patriots quarterback Tom Brady and the possibility that Brady was hearing footsteps in the pocket the first time these two teams met in Week 9 of the regular season:

"...if you look at Week 9 when we played them, it's like he felt us," he said. "We went back on the film, we watched the film and we didn't really rush as we can as a defense. ... He was throwing balls on the ground and stuff."

Clarifying further, Pierre-Paul was asked if Brady felt "phantom pressure" in the first game:

"Yeah, he was. Yeah, he was reacting to pressure that didn't exist and he was just throwing the ball places that there wasn't a receiver there. So imagine us just getting there even faster and we're actually doing our jobs and getting there and getting hits on him."

This all came on the heels of comments from Pierre-Paul earlier in the week that Brady is "not God." While that may very well be true, Tom Brady doesn't take too well to people talking shit about him. If you have already decided to put some of your hard-earned dough down on the Giants, Jason Pierre-Paul theoretically just made it a little harder to win your money.

And that, sports fans, is the best we can come up with for a Super Bowl story line this week -- Jason Pierre-Paul saying Tom Brady is human.

Would one of the players please get caught soliciting a prostitute or shooting heroin behind the team hotel and spice this thing up a little bit?
