Ummm, THIS Guy Comes to Your Door and You Believe He Works for the Electric Company?

Yeah, yeah, I work for CenterPoint.
No one ever thinks they will fall for a con man's spiel, something which has kept con men flush since time began.

But we have to think if the dude shown in an HPD Composite sketch showed up at our door and said he worked for CenterPoint, we'd have some doubts.

We just might call CenterPoint and -- after being transferred twice, saying our account number into a machine that robotically responds, "Sorry, I couldn't make that out" and finally getting a live person -- ask, "Do your guys in the field wear non-CenterPoint shirts, have a stud piercing beneath their lip and insist on keeping on their sunglasses?"

And sure, we'd just get transferred again, but maybe by this time the dude at the door will have gotten impatient or nervous.

Of course, this guy's victims were elderly, and sadly they are vulnerable to smooth talking. HPD says the guy in the picture is responsible for at least two home burglaries.

In both cases, the man said he needed to show the homeowner something electric-related in the backyard, such as where lines would be re-routed. While in the backyard, he'd say he needed something from his truck, and the residents should just wait for him to be right back.

In one case, HPD says, "After 15 minutes passed and the suspect had not returned, the woman walked inside her house and found that someone had burglarized her home, taken jewelry and other valuables and exited through the front door. "

He is believed to be working with at least two colleagues and is described as "a white male with medium brown hair, in his late 20s to early 30s, approximately 5 feet 9 inches tall."

Anyone with information on the identity of the suspect in the composite sketch is urged to contact the HPD Burglary and Theft Division at 713-308-0900 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
