Today in High School Cheerleader-Coach Rants: Y'All Are a Bunch of "Highfalutin' Heifers"

• I'll bet you this group of heifers moo worse to each other on a regular basis....

• Let's get over this.  Coaches of all sport teams use colorful language to shock their students back into shape.  The fact that these "heifers" seem to be upset is a little too much Nanny State type of political correctness for me. The girls are surely acting a little too "privledged" and need to be put in their place.  I don't recall any discussion of physical abuse.  Why don't the girls work harder to please the coach and make the team better rather than crying to Mommy or Daddy. Grow up girls.

• figure skating, gymnastics, freestyle snowboarding, skateboarding, skiing,surfing, are in the Olympic Games. American football is not.  

•  A sport is an activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team competes against another or others.

• Yo, :"Yo"....I have no beef with you (yet *wink)...allow me to clarify my position, sir/ma'am. The berating thing has no relevance  Grantred.  I was trying to be funny. Define "sport".  I want YOUR YO defintion.

• Interesting that you raise this issue.  Many friends, family members, and I have been debating this on and off for a while. No.  Cheerleading is not a 'sport'.  It is more aptly described as 'a competition in which judges compare scripted displays of athleticism'. Yes, it is indeed a competition, but it is not a sport.  To be a sport, there should be an actual 'game' involved and the winner should not be determined by subjective judges.  Cheerleading meets neither criteria.  Figure skating, gymnastics, freestyle snowboarding/skateboarding/skiing/surfing, etc. likewise should not be considered 'sports'.  Impressive displays of athleticism, yes, but not sports. The berating of players/participants by coaches is not relevant.

• Please do not make comments re: the law.  You are wrong and therefore it's obvious you haven't the faintest idea of what you're talking about.

• Sooooooo...does this incident now end the debate re: "is cheerleading a sport?"  I mean coach berating athletic participants?  Happens in (college) football, basketball, and to a lesser extent baseball.

• Please cite a reference for your the following quote:  "It's illegal to record somebody (ANYBODY) without their permission." It isnt that cut and dry ie the daughter of a texas judge recording said judge and his wife beating the hell outta her for using the computer/internet to play games.  She then uploaded that video to youtube and she is facing no charges.  The Houston Press covered this pretty extensively.

• It's illegal to record somebody (ANYBODY) without their permission. Which is why the cheerleader received punishment. Honestly, nobody knows what really happened except the coach in question and the cheerleaders who were there at the time. Everybody needs to leave everybody else alone. 

• Seriously people need to stop over reacting. We now live in a society where everyone has to walk on eggshells. These girls obviously don't know how to follow a coach's directions and daddy is showing them its ok. Smh at the fact the worst word said was heifer. This would happen at a school filled with brats like Cy Woods

• If you don't go to school at Cy-Woods or in the district, shut up...... she is a great teacher and these girls deserved what they got.... the Dad who plastered himself all over TV "protecting" his daughter should be the one ashamed.... he encourages his daughter to break the rules and then complains when she gets in trouble...

• I have seen those cheerleaders and they need to lose weight!!!!!!  They deserved a kick in the A**!

• I would have used much harsher words if I was the Coach. The girls that were being yelled at had been given strict instructions not to go to an award ceremony for punishment from earlier incidents. Instead they skipped class and went anyways. She had every right to get upset. I had the great fortune of having this coach as my English teacher when I was in high school and she was by far one of the biggest influences on my life at that point. She is a phenomenal educator who pushed us to see literature in a different way and devoted every ounce of energy into her passion for teaching! She is one of the most caring and determined people I've ever met and it's horribly sad to see her have to go through this. These girls should be thankful for having this coach to give them a little reality check

• Doesn't help the cy woods has a lot of spoiled little brats that get fed with a silver spoon and rewarded for their mistakes.

• Cy-Fair ISD has a "no electronic devices" during class-time (phy ed included) rule. Pretty plain and simple. While I don't agree with name-calling, I think it's pretty funny. Especially since my family lives in CyFair, my sister goes to Cy-Woods, and have met some of the herd. I side with the instructor on this. To be fair, these girls will probably be called much worse than this in their lifetime. Just not their face.

• So, let's see. The coach (taxpayer funded) gets disciplined based on evidence supplied by a student and the whistle blower is punished. WTF? Does the Cy Fair ISD have a "no taping" clause concerning audio during cheerleader practice? Talk about a "scorched earth" policy! "Kill ALL them heifers and let God sort 'em out!"

•  And the cheerleader who taped the rant has been disciplined for doing so. How very Cy-Fair!
