• "Dogs stolen for fighting" is a completely unfounded urban legend. A prize fighter doesn't train on random civilians, would make no sense. You could never condition a dog to "win" by giving him the weakest opponent. Michael Vick should chime in here, since he knows this fact! Purebred Boxers, like Charlie, can go for a lot of money, it's a business. He's not neutered, so that makes him even more a prize, for studding. I've been in contact with the owners and tons of rescue and animal orgs throughout TX, we upped the reward to $1500. We have CL ads and many others as well. • The way I heard it on the news this morning, I thought the dog had escaped through the smashed in front door. Let's hope that's the case and he comes home soon.

• My husband and I saw a dog that looked like Charlie on 21st Street in the Heights on Saturday night.  I reported it to Crimestoppers, but want to be sure the owner knows...in case it is Charlie and he ends up at the pound.

• Oh man, did you have to mention the bait thing?

• We were worried about this very thing happening to us and this compelled us to get a security system installed.  We have a boxer and he means so much to us - they are the most wonderful dogs.  This story really makes me sad.  I really hope this dog is found quickly because a lot of times they are used as bate in pit bull fights.
