Candy Flores, 5: Police Await Autopsy Results on Her Death (UPDATED: Bayou Body Count No. 12)
Houston police are waiting for autopsy results before they decide what steps to take in the death of a five-year-old girl on the west side Tuesday night.
Rosa Gonzalez confessed, cops say
Members of Candy Flores's family told police the girl fell "from a bathroom toilet to the tile floor where she struck her forehead."
HFD paramedics responded, found her with a contusion to her face, and she was pronounced dead at the scene in the 9900 block of Club Creek Drive.
The incident happened about 8:30 p.m. Tuesday.
"The investigation is pending the child's cause of death to be determined by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences," police say.
UPDATE: Media outlets are reporting that the child's mother, whose name has not been released, confessed to killing the child after her story changed several times during interviews with police.
UPDATE 2: The woman's name has been released. Rosa Gonzalez, 41, has been "charged with injury to a child...in the beating death of her daughter," HPD says.
