An argument over loud music ended in the death of a security guard Sunday night, Houston police say.

The 25-year-old victim, whose name has not been released pending notification of relatives, was working at the Rockport Apartments in the 8500 block of Nairn on the southwest side when he got into an altercation over music about 8:30 p.m.
After warning the suspect twice, the two got into an argument, police say.
"A witness approached the two men and attempted to resolve the issue," HPD says. "At that time, the suspect and guard pulled out guns. The guard fired one time, striking the witness in the arm. The suspect then fired several shots at the guard, who died at the scene inside his vehicle. The suspect fled on foot."
The witness drove himself to a nearby hospital and was treated for a minor wound.
"Witnesses described the suspect only as a Hispanic male in his mid 20s to early 30s," HPD says.
