Some animals could sure use a home this Christmas. Hint freakin' hint.
Some anonymous Good Samaritans and a local business have stepped up to cover adoption fees for some long-term cats and dogs at Houston's Bureau of Animal Regulation and Care.

In a remarkable display of awesomeness, one secret Santa offered to foot the $10 fee for the 24 "Purrfurred" cats who'd been at BARC for at least 30 days; four have already been adopted, according to Chris Newport of the city's Administration and Regulatory Affairs Department. Plus, the $20 fee for nine Purrfurred dogs has been covered by another anonymous soul and Bed & Biscuits Day Spa.

The offer is good for today; BARC has extended holiday hours, so they're open until 7 p.m.

"Our phones are going crazy, so is our Facebook page," Newport stated in a press release. "Our staff can't believe what's going on, and the lobby is charged up."

So if you've been thinking about adopting a furry friend, now's a great time -- these long-term critters are especially deserving of a good home. And hey, you might want to have a watchdog around in case the fat dude busting into your home on Christmas Eve turns out not to be Santa after all...
