Hao Huynh: Killed in a robbery.
Houston police are asking for help in solving the December 18 murder of UH student Hao Huynh, 22, who was shot in a robbery as he returned home from a party.

HPD says the killing took place about 2:35 a.m. that Sunday morning at the Catalina Village Apartments in the 3500 block of Dixie Drive.

"The suspect is described only as a black male in his late 20s or early 30s with a medium build and armed with a semi-automatic pistol," HPD says. "He's believed to have fled in a white Chevrolet Malibu or Impala, possibly with custom rims or mag wheels."

Police investigators and Huynh's sister spoke at a press conference on the search.

"This homicide is a tragedy," HPD Sgt. J.C. Padilla said. "The Huynh family has lost an intelligent young man with a bright future. He was a senior at the University of Houston who wanted to become a biology professor. Now his dreams will never materialize."

"We were very close," said Huynh's sister, Truc Huynh. "He was very patient with people and very kind. He was very silly too, which is something I'm going to miss. He was very strong. He worked out a lot because he wanted to defend me, my family, his girlfriend and other people. As it turns out, he's the one who needed defending."

Anyone with information in this case is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.

I worked at the school where this young man went to elementary school and my he and my son were friends.  Such a sweet young man and such a tragedy.... My prayers are with all of his family and friends.

This is a tragedy - I hope that one day America wakes up and puts forth some reasonable gun control laws.  The guy who shot Hao was probably a convicted felon already and obtained the weapon through a gun show (occurring every weekend somewhere in the Houston area) or stole it from some idiot who left it unsecured in their home or car.

Yep, we need more laws restricting law-abiding citizens because criminals will surely abide by the new gun laws. Uh-huh.

You do know you still have to go thru the background check and waiting periods for hand guns at gun shows, right? Oh, you didn't? You mean you were yammering on about something you know nothing about? I can't hardly believe it! -rolling eyes-

Unsecured in their car or home? You mean not locking the doors? Do you ever write anything coherent?

The gun show loophole still exists.  http://abcnews.go.com/WN/gun-s...

Second, trigger locks should be required on all handguns when they are not on the permitted individual.  Lastly, I thought what I had to say was quite coherent to those who speak the english language.

There is no gun show loophole. It's citizens selling other citizen's firearms. Your article is trying to deceive by calling a private citizen a "private dealer". Citizens selling other citizens firearms is not against the law. There is no background check required. Lots of people take their own guns to gun shows to sell them to other citizens. Sorry if you don't like it, tough. It's the same as meeting someone at a gas station or any other public place for a private sale except it's under a roof at a gun show.

The odds this hood rat bought his pistol at a gun show is astronomically small. More than likely said hood rat stole that gun from another law-abiding citizen or bought it from someone who did. How would making more gun laws change punk thugs getting guns like this? It wouldn't one bit.

As far as your last paragraph of your original posting: You think people leave their houses and vehicles unlocked? Really? Who? I think you are making it up. It's ridiculous to say people are leaving their homes and cars unlocked with guns inside. Perhaps incoherent wasn't the correct term, I should've used asinine.

"He's believed to have fled in a white Chevrolet Malibu or Impala, possibly with custom rims or mag wheels."  Unbelievable!
