William Adams will be off the bench for a while.
Aransas County judge William Adams, whose daughter set off a worldwide firestorm by releasing video of him beating her with a belt when she was 16, has been suspended by the Texas Supreme Court.

Adams has accepted the recommendation by the State Commission on Judicial Conduct that he be suspended without pay, but he "does not admit guilt, fault or wrongdoing," the order states.

The Rockport judge will be suspended while the commission looks into the case, including the video, to see if there is any action to be taken.

Adams has said he apologized for going overboard in what he categorized as disciplining his daughter, and said she released the video seven years after the event because they had gotten into a dispute about money.
