Samuel Sanchez was drunk during fatal crash, HPD says
Houston police have charged man with intoxication manslaughter after the death of his passenger in a crash early Saturday morning.

Franklin P. Canales, 50, faces the charge. The victim's name was not released pending notification of family members.

Police say Canales was driving a Toyota in the 7200 block of Fondren shortly after midnight when he struck a Camry.

"Canales was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital with non-life threatening injuries." HPD says. "Canales' passenger and the driver of the Camry were both transported to Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital where the passenger died. The driver of the Camry suffered minor injuries."

Police say Canales was intoxicated at the time of the accident.
