New Braunfels Voters Ban Beer Cans for Tubers

• I understand that people leave their trash around and act like fools on the river, but this is a dumb decision.  I go to the river a couple times every summer, just to relax and drink some beer in the sun. Without the beer, I see alot of people skipping the river. Which will lead to less tourism and money going into the town. wouldn't it just be easier to put more trash cans around? 

•  Too bad they couldn't enforce laws already on the books instead of imposing kneejerk ban on all of us. I've never dropped anything in that river. Ever.

• This is what happens when people just leave their trash.  It pisses me off when I see someone drive off from a parking spot at the beach and leave a pile of cans and trash.  I wonder what goes through the mind of some one who does this.  The good old days of floating the river with a cold beer are gone......but something had to be done. Careless idiots trashing up the place.  People just do not give a fuck any more. Sad

• I have spent many a summer boozing it up on the Guadalupe, and I'm all in favor of the ban. There was a point some time ago when the litter got truly disgusting, and as much as I love beer, I got very, very tired of the abject drunkenness and infantile behavior of the frat-boy rednecks. Watching morons in gimme caps standing in the river and peeing in the water without shame was enough to put me off going back to that place until they came to their senses and cleaned it up.

• Rather than torture their own lagging (I'm assuming) economy, why don't they just collect those beer cans and recycle them? It's like people are BRINGING them money!
