• leinart was playing behind orlovsky last season, who is now the colts' #2 with manning out...  it will be interesting to see how he has progressed under the tutelage of the QB guru kubiak, who got his gig in no small part by telling bob mcnair what he wanted to hear:  that he can make david carr a decent QB... there may be a tj yates sighting sooner rather than later...

• All Leinart has to do is not implode.  If he avoids throwing INTs and simply hands off to the RBs and runs an occasional play-action he'll be fine.  Plus, in pressure situations, Schaub has traditionally sucked (see the Raiders game this season for a quick reminder), so maybe Leinart will be a step up there.  Leinart was a first round draft pick, so he has some ability.  It's not like he was an undrafted rookie that the Texans found at a flea market  Leinart's going to be fine and this team is going to finish strong.  Have some confidence people.

• The play Schaub got hurt on was in the first half.

• "Now, if you say he shouldn't have run a quarterback sneak, which is where the injury occurred, just to get out of the end zone, I'm with you." 100% WRONG! It is a very low risk, no-brainer, standard call – probably THE lowest risk call. The only reason anyone is questioning it is because Schaub got hurt on that play. Would you have rather seen a handoff IN THE ENDZONE that could have potentially been fumbled or ended up as a safety? Would you have rather seen a pass, that could have been intercepted for a pick six? (this is not a slam of Schaub, but hey, shit happens...) In those cases, the call itself could have been legitimately questioned. But not in the case of a QB sneak from your own endzone. Coaches don't call plays – or abandon plays – because of the possibility someone might get hurt on a given call. That can happen on ANY play in the NFL. And I'd think that a QB sneak is probably among the safest plays for a QB, if you're talking risk factor– of injury, turnover or any other undesirable outcome. That's what most people in our society don't understand: it's NOT always about the outcome. An unfortunate outcome does NOT negate the validity of the correct decision that led to it. Concern yourself more with the process instead of the results, and over the long term, you'll come out ahead.

• I think ESPC is making it up. Kubiak stated yesterday he never said he was going to be out the entire season.

• You've never watched a football game in your life, have you?

• [Shrug] I'm willing to give Leinart the benefit of the doubt. There are some real weapons on that team. He just need to get a win or two under his belt to get his confidence up. Besides, it's not like Schaub is some sort of "elite QB". He's surrounded by some really good - and in some cases, truly great - players. First principles: If in doubt, run the ball. We know we're pretty good at that.

• This might happen at the college level, but this is the NFL.

• I can't recall ever seeing an NFL quarterback taken out of a game because the game was in the bag...

• I think you're underestimating the importance of Schaub to this offense. Yeah, he's not a top-tier quarterback and his throws are get a little loose every now and then, but the gap between him and the alternative (Leinart) is incredibly wide. Foster and Tate are great backs, but a lot of those runs are predicated on the fact that play-action is in the back pocket (see that early toss to Jacoby last Sunday). Throw in the fact that Foster gets A LOT of looks as a pass-catcher and bam! Losing Schaub is NOT good for the Texans.

• Leinart to...Jacoby...Jones!  Incomplete. Get ready to hear a lot of this after the bye.

• For those yelling about leaving Schaub in, find another team that takes their starting QB out after the 3rd quarter in a blowout. There just aren't any. Coaches leave them in because the play calling is easier and the continuity with the offensive line and running backs is substantially better. Now, if you say he shouldn't have run a quarterback sneak, which is where the injury occurred, just to get out of the end zone, I'm with you. But, this whole "they should pull him after three quarters" business is something NO team does. And 99.99999 percent of the time, the end result is NOT a season-ending injury.

• We spent the entire 4th Q screaming at the TV begging Kubiak to take out the starters... there was just no need to risk the potential injuries! I guess we didn't yell loud enough... *sigh*

• ESPN just said he is out for the year.  Once again, Boobiak rears his ugly head.  Why in the hell did he keep Schaub in after the 3rd quarter?  That game was done and dusted by then and there was no reason for him to be on the field.  Favre anyone?

• If you listen to Tim Hasselbeck then you would think Matt Schaub has been “the key” to how the Texans have been winning football games. Of course, while Schuab is underrated and has played well he has been hear for several of the losing seasons. I think Hasselbeck seems to have overlooked Arian Foster, not to mention that thing the Texans are good at now. It's the defense right?
