HPD has released its official version of events:
Mr. Brown and his friends were visiting an after-hours bar, "Breakers," at the above address, when an argument occured between two groups of people. The argument continued into the parking lot where gunshots were exchanged between the two groups. Brown and his friends were not involved in the altercation and remained inside, not hearing the gunshots that took place outside. When the bar closed at 5:30 a.m., Brown left and seated himself in his car, speaking to two females outside his driver's side window. While speaking to the females, an unknown black male began shooting at Brown's car, striking Brown. The suspect fled the scene in an unknown direction.
