Great New Photos of the Apollo 17 Landing Site

Categories: NASA
NASA released this morning some neat new images from the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter of the landing site of Apollo 17.

The enhanced photos give the best look yet of the astronauts' footprint tracks through the dust and the parts of the Lunar Module that were left on the surface.

"We can retrace the astronauts' steps with greater clarity to see where they took lunar samples," said Noah Petro, a NASA lunar geologist.

The footprints shown, of course, are the last ever made by a human on the moon.
