Friendswood Police Chief Robert Wieners's E-Mail Troubles
The online hackers/pranksters/terrorists Anonymous have taken on Texas police chiefs, breaking into a central e-mail and releasing a ginormous dump of private correspondence.

Sadly, you probably will not be shocked to learn that Texas police chiefs often receive or forward chain-mail jokes and dubious political commentary about Muslims and minorities.
And then there's Friendswood police chief Robert Wieners, who produced this classic:
That stupid bitch who started that stolen car chase at Yale and 610 got what she deserved (I'll bet she was fat and black too). Same with that pervert that got shot by the county. Fuck that guy, see ya. That all sounds like good police work to me. Those folks got the criminal cure. It's guaranteed, they will never commit a crime again.

We called Wieners's office and were placed on what sounds like a long list of requests for comment. We've also asked Mayor David Smith for comment.
Anyway, the collection of e-mails is huge, and most of it is tedious, quotidian stuff. But have at it if you like.
Update: Nick Haby, assistant to the Friendswood city manager, tells Hair Balls Wieners did not write any of the controversial e-mails.
"They were sent to him, I don't know if they were found in his inbox or in the trash, but he did not write them," he says.
Haby says he does not know if Wieners is the person who responded, "How do you really feel:)" to the "stupid bitch e-mail.
The city will cooperate with the investigation into the statewide hacking. "Quite frankly, the chief is a victim of a crime here," he says.
