Johnathan Dixon admitted killing Lackey, police say.
A gunfight on the northeast side left one man dead Sunday morning, Houston police said.

Billy Joe Lackey, 32, was killed in a shootout with Johnathan Dixon, 25, about 11 a.m. Sunday in the 7900 block of Lynette.

Police got a call about gunshots and when they arrived on the scene, they found Lackey suffering from several gunshot wounds. He was taken to LBJ Hospital, where he died.

"Dixon approached officers at the scene and admitted to being involved in an exchange of gunfire with Lackey," HPD says.

He's been charged with murder.
