Johnathan Dixon admitted killing Lackey, police say.
A gunfight on the northeast side left one man dead Sunday morning, Houston police said.

Billy Joe Lackey, 32, was killed in a shootout with Johnathan Dixon, 25, about 11 a.m. Sunday in the 7900 block of Lynette.

Police got a call about gunshots and when they arrived on the scene, they found Lackey suffering from several gunshot wounds. He was taken to LBJ Hospital, where he died.

"Dixon approached officers at the scene and admitted to being involved in an exchange of gunfire with Lackey," HPD says.

He's been charged with murder.

It is truly sad this man had to die. He didn't deserve this. And whoever was involved will be dealt with properly in time. What kind of Christian man can take anothers life. Johnathan Dixon and all of the other individuals are not Christian. Billy was a great person, kind hearted, good to everyone, never disrespectful and was loved by many. Even people in his distant past are coming out claiming this man and reminiscing on times they had as adoloscent, that is the impact he had on everyone, no one could ever forget him. May he truly rest in peace.

I'm going to miss Billy so much. Such a good person gone! We were together over five years & he was a wonderful person. Kind-hearted, sweet, giving & loving. I'll miss him deeply. I don't care what anybody says but I knew Billy personally & he didn't deserve this.

It is very disheartening to watch young black men destroy themselves and each other in this manner! :-(   .......but while you are resting in peace now, my heart goes out to your so called boys that are left here in turmoil having to live with what they've done!

I truly hope they find the other parties involved and bring them to justice soon!

yeah but he still was part of it so "great kid who loves everyone" cannot be the truth because he took a life, regardless of the situation.

Clearly edvidently, he was not a christian not shooting and killing somebody.  Tell the real truth about johnathan a drug dealer and now a murderer....
