George Greanias Signed No-Porn Policy Right Before Porn Binge

Here's one thing we didn't notice in all the hubbub: The biggest binge of porn-viewing by Metro CEO George Greanias came just days after a new policy emphasizing against such behavior -- signed by him -- went into effect.

The new policy went into effect June 15 and features Greanias's signature. Part of it says:

METRO equipment must not be used to access any adult-oriented sites at any time. Adult-oriented sites include, but are not limited to, any pornographic sites. Similarly, users are prohibited from transmitting, retrieving or storing any communications which are obscene or pornographic.

Five days later Greanias began the most concentrated and intense part of his porn tour, at least in terms of what Metro has released.

Metro's investigation showed that from Greanias's hire in May 2010 until the day the revised policy emphasizing porn went into effect, his porn viewing was sporadic at best.

The new policy goes into effect, and bam:

June 20 -- He visits four sites.
June 21 -- five sites
June 22 -- six sites
June 23 -- three sites
June 24 -- two sites (maybe he was getting tired)
June 25 -- six sites (he's back, baby!)
June 27 -- eight sites (his personal record)
June 28 -- six sites
June 30 -- five sites
July 1 -- five sites.

Of course, Greanias did not believe he was using Metro equipment -- he was on his personal laptop, apparently unaware he was using the agency's wi-fi.

"The violation was unintentional," Greanias said in a letter to Metro employees. "I thought I was using my own computer, but was in fact in Metro's system -- but it was a violation all the same."

Did he have a death wish? Or did the new policy just give him ideas?

I suppose this comes from the left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing (or clicking).

I believe any of us in the private sector would be terminated for such an offense and individuals who perform these acts that we compensate should be held to the same standards. Especially in a leadership roll.

Eh, unless he was jacking it behind his desk, so what? It was his personal computer. Yeah he was on the clock but how many of us goof off while  on the clock? It's not like he was stealing money or handing out million dollar contracts to his buddies.
